Argyle U11s 5

OKEHAMPTON travelled to Tiverton with only ten players in the penultimate game of their season.

Okehampton began well with Bradley Ausden hitting the post after a scramble in the Twyford Spartan goalmouth, but minutes later were having to work hard to defend their own goal.

Twyford Spartans? persistence paid off seven minutes into the game with their first goal, and despite Okehampton clearing the ball off the line they quickly followed it with their second.

For much of this initial part of the match Okehampton found it difficult to penetrate the Twyford Spartan goal area but a lovely ball from Paul Gent opened up the defence allowing Ausden to make a run and score.

Minutes later William Searle crossed the ball into the area and Harry Smith drew the scores level. Twyford Spartans came close to taking the lead again with a shot that rolled across the goalmouth.

Paul Gent started the second half with a shot that forced the Twyford Spartan keeper to make one of his best saves of the afternoon.

Down the other end Searle placed his corner kick into the middle of the Twyford Spartan goal and Ausden put the ball into the back of the net.

A pass from Smith saw Ausden add another to his scoresheet.

The score was 4-2 to Okehampton but they could not relax for a minute. Will Ingram, Okehampton?s keeper, made an initial save but Twyford Spartans followed up the rebound and scored.

They continued to press the Okehampton goal and Ingram made a save, pushing the ball away into the path of another Twyford Spartan striker. Only Timothy Doidge prevented them from adding another by clearing the ball off his own goal-line.

Minutes later Okehampton were having to come from behind again with Twyford Spartan, scoring two goals.

Ausden scored the equaliser as the referee blew his whistle for full time.

Men of the match: Kyle Kennealy and Harry Smith.
