FOR the first time this season the Ordulph opening bowler Bridgewater felt a new ball in his hand. Yes, Folley won the toss. Not that this deterred the St Stephens opener Court, who promptly proceeded to knock the shine off the ball by smacking it around the park for seven or eight overs. Court deemed that attack was the best form of defence and pushed St Stephens? score along at a cracking pace. He eventually fell to a good straight delivery from Bridgewater. From this bright start things went rapidly downhill for St Stephens, as Bridgewater (3 for 33 off 7) and Folley (3 for 12 off 7) tore through the St Stephens top and middle order. A brace of wickets each for Lethbridge (2 for 6) and Alford (2 for 1 off 1) took care of the St Stephens tail, as they collapsed to 78 all out. Catches from Westlake and W Downham also contributed to this good all round Ordulph display. Overhauling the St Stephens total never looked in doubt as Credicott (42) aggressively attacked the St Stephens bowling from the word go. Supported well by Statton (14 not out) they took the score to over 50 before Credicott fell to a good take from the St Stephens keeper. Credicott?s excellent knock included seven fours and a massive six. Joined at the crease now by Wayne Downham (13 not out), Statton knew the job in hand was to reach the St Stephens total without losing any further wickets in order to get maximum points. Some good, patient, sensible batting from the Ordulph pair saw them achieve this aim without further loss and subsequently achieving maximum points from the game. Another good display from the Ordulph keeps them well placed in second spot in the table. Man of the match, Ordulph, M Credicott. Points: Ordulph 20, St Stephens 1.
