NEW artists both professional and amateur are invited to join Tavistock Group of Artists, which will be holding its annual enrolment evening this September.

The event takes place at Kingdon House, Pym Street at 7.30pm on Monday, September 5.

Members of TGA pay an annual fee of just £25. Meetings are held at the same venue once a month and include lectures, demonstrations and life drawing sessions.

The TGA 56th annual exhibition was held this year between June 22 and 26, exhibiting the work of 36 members with 256 framed works. The public were requested to vote for the best picture in the show and the best new member.

Best in show went to Pearl Hailstone with her oil painting 'The Cave' and Kristin Vincent was voted best new member with her watercolour of Buckland Monachorum.

This year pupils from Kelly College and Tavistock Community College were invited to display some of their A level and GCSE work which attracted a great deal of interest.
