THE Mount House School art exhibition took place recently in the school's art department.

More than 300 pieces of pupil artwork from year 3 through to year 8 were included, showcasing the broad spectrum of creative activities that the children are exposed to during their time at Mount House.

The work on display covered projects in ceramics, mixed-media, acrylic, oil pastels, chalk, charcoal, mod roc sculptures, print making , stop motion animation and photography. Subject matter ranged from Street Art to Self portraits, Illustration to installation.

There was also a silent auction of framed children's lino cuts, with more than £400 raised to go toward the charity Farms for City Children, the organization founded by Michael Morpurgo, himself a former Mount House School parent.

Patrick Savage, Mount House headmaster said: 'This exhibition represents just a portion of the extraordinary body of work that the children produced over the course of the year.

'The children are incredibly enthusiastic about seeing their creations exhibited in such a vibrant setting.'

The art department has been working hard to put in place a dynamic visiting artist programme that will be implemented over the next few years.

Visiting artists will be running a series of workshops with each year group and visits to the Tate St Ives and other galleries are planned.

Mr Savage added: 'This will inevitably inspire the children to be able to meet such a great selection of artists, see their work and then have a chance to develop their own skills and creativity.'
