ARTIST and illustrator Ian Pethers has received a £500 cash prize for six of his miniature paintings currently on view in the ?A Million Brushstrokes? exhibition featuring 800 miniatures in London.

Ian sent in six miniature paintings ?all featuring Cornish engine houses ? and they were all accepted for the exhibition which is at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery until May 3.

In early summer his work will be on display at the Tavistock Group of Artists? Exhibition from June 21 to 29, and at the Gunnislake Festival Exhibition July 30 to August 2.

Ian also has his paintings on permanent exhibition at the Mayflower Galleries, in West Street, Tavistock.

Born in London in 1956 he grew up in the Thames Valley and took to painting at an early age. Ian moved to Gunnislake in 1990 where he runs his own Glenrock Studio.

As well as painting two murals in Callington he has mastered the art of miniature painting and in 2001 he was elected as associate of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers.
