AN art student's winning creation is to be given as trophies in the regional Media Innovation Awards.

Jodie Burns from Dousland, along with a number of other art students at Plymouth College of Arts, were invited to submit a design for a trophy to be presented to winners at the Media Innovation Awards in March.

Jodie, who is doing a foundation degree in applied arts, was thrilled that her glass orb design was chosen.

'It feels brilliant to have been chosen to make the awards,' she said. 'I came up with the design in a glass blowing module I did as part of my course. I have now got to make 18 of them before the end of February, so I'm going to have a very busy couple of weeks.'

The Media Innovation Awards celebrate the innovative use of screen based media across the South West. Jodie's trophies will be presented to category winners at a gala dinner on March 18.

Jodie's aunt, Ann Cains said: 'All her family are extremely proud of her.'
