Devon & Exeter Senior 1

North Tawton 2

Alphington 1

THIS good win against an experienced side showed good character by North Tawton.

The first half saw North Tawton miss two penalties in turn, both given for handball. Paul Burrow put his wide and an impressive save by the keeper kept out Andy Harnell?s.

The visiting keeper was in the thick of things shortly after by keeping out a super volley by Dean Rice.

Things took a turn for the worse when a low cross was deflected into the North Tawton goal by Timmy Williams.

Tawton came out after the break with the bit between their teeth, Alphington being pinned into their own half for most of the second half.

The equaliser came from goal-poacher Arscott, whose half-volley shot into the top corner from a goalmouth scramble.

With great pressure mounting on the visitors? goal it was only a matter of time before the winner came. Arscott with his electrifying pace broke through the defence and rounded the keeper to coolly net himself a great brace. It could have turned into a hat-trick when he found himself clear again but his lob sailed over the crossbar.

Man of the match: Edward Hillier.
