Feniton 5

Okehampton Argyle 3

AFTER last week's 4-4 draw with Pinhoe, Argyle never really expected to be involved in another eight goal thriller, but this time they finished at the wrong end of a 5-3 result.

They started brightly with two early shots from Robbie Miller, and one from Paul Yip testing the Feniton keeper. At the other end, two good headers just skimmed the crossbar.

During a goalmouth scramble, Steve Williams pounced onto a loose ball and found the corner of the net with a well placed shot.

Five minutes later Adam Mortimer scored from a similar situation, picking up a sliced clearance and shooting into the other corner to put Argyle two up.

The golden spell continued for Argyle when again Feniton failed to clear their lines. Steve Williams collected his second goal of the match.

On the half-hour Feniton put themselves back into the game when John Phillips side-footed the ball home after Sean Sandercock had pushed it out with a driving save.

Just before the break Feniton got their first bit of luck. After a shot was blocked, the ball came out to Yip on the edge of the six-yard box, and his first-time clearance hit the leg of Feniton's Jim Lee and whistled back into the net.

Feniton equalised in the first minute of the second half, when Argyle's defence were caught at sixes and sevens, and Phillips strode through to notch his second goal.

From that moment Feniton took complete control and it came as no surprise when Tom Mythen and Marc Simie added goals in the 64th and 70th minutes to ensure the home team's victory.

This was a disappointing result for Argyle, who face another difficult match this week when they entertain St Martins at Simmons Park, kick-off 2.30 pm.
