Devon & Exeter Intermediate 4

Heavitree and Wonford USC 4

Okehampton Argyle 3rds 1

AFTER an early kick-off which denied Argyle the chance to warm up properly, they were caught cold with two early goals.

When Okehampton played to their system, they looked dangerous, particularly up the right hand side where Stepto, Griffiths and Spence threaded together good moves. At half-time Argyle were still in with a fighting chance.

Fine goalkeeping saw Spence and Kinsey's efforts denied early in the second half, then Wonford extended their lead to three.

Okehampton continued to create chances, but could not make them count. On one occasion Powell was scythed down on the edge of the area but play was not stopped.

Wonford changed their tactics and defended their lead, and Okehampton responded by pushing forward with Powell, Kinsey and Evans in attack. This brought about a few chances, and resulted in Argyle's consolation goal, when Kinsey pushed the ball in front of the keeper and substitute Yelland poked it over the line.

Man of the match: Rhys Morgan.

This week Argyle home to Newtown 3rds.
