Okehampton Argyle 2

Feniton 5

ANYONE who saw the match between these two clubs at Feniton earlier in the season would almost think this game was a video replay, because of its similarity.

At Feniton, Okehampton cruised into a 3-0 lead in the opening half-hour, before Feniton worked their back into the game and finally ran out 5-3 winners.

In this game, Okehampton got off to an even better start scoring twice in the first five minutes. The first came after just two minutes, when Adam Mortimer latched on to a through-ball from Daniel Johnson and beat a defender before slotting past the keeper.

Two minutes later a similar pass, this time from Mike Vernon, found Mortimer again. He lobbed the ball over the keeper from the edge of the box to double his, and Argyle?s score.

Mortimer missed getting his hat-trick on the half-hour when he headed a free kick from Paul Yip inches over the bar. Robbie Sandercock also had a good chance to increase Argyle?s lead, but shot into the side-netting when well placed.

Just before half-time a long throw in from Feniton caught out Argyle?s defence, when a glancing header beat Sean Sandercock to find the top corner of the net.

In the second half, just like the match at Feniton, the game switched to their favour. In the 47th minute Argyle failed to clear a corner and the No 10 was in the right spot to ram the ball home for the equaliser.

A headed goal from another long throw in put Feniton ahead for the first time and two more in the 65th and 90th minutes by the impressive No 7, gave them a deserved victory.

The first team are without a fixture this Saturday, but with the seconds home to St Loye?s and the thirds home to Coryton, there is still plenty of entertainment on hand.
