WE are a small group of people very interested in the delightful books written by Warwick Deeping (1877-1950), probably the best-known being Sorrel and Son written in 1925 (which went into at least 41 editions and was still in print in the 1970s) and was subsequently made into a film in 1933.

Several of his other 70 books were being reprinted over 20 years after they were first published and we have been informed that librarians still receive requests for certain titles today.

Our aim is to contact other people who enjoy reading W D's books and between us find out more about the life and works of this once enormously popular novelist.

Anyone who is interested in helping us in this venture is invited to get in touch with me: Geoffrey Gillam, 23 Merton Road, Enfield, Middlesex. EN2 0LS. Telephone 0208 367 0263.
