ARTISTS in MARY Tavy are being encouraged to contribute their work to an exciting art and crafts exhibition taking place in September.
The organisers are appealing for art from villagers in painting, sculpture or any other form as well as craft exhibits. They already have about 30 or 40 exhibits, mostly from established Tavistock artists.
'We have nothing against the Tavistock group of artists, but we are looking for local people who enjoy a bit of watercolour or something else, to come forward and showcase their talent,' said organiser Victoria Shulberg.
Mary Tavy School will also be encouraging youngsters to contribute by holding a competition for budding artists which will take place in the summer, with judging, and prizes awarded before the main exhibition.
Artists will also be able to sell their work at the event, with a small commission going to the parish church fund.
