POLICE are appealing for information after a Takeuchi mini-digger was stolen from a plant hire company in Tavistock overnight on Sunday/Monday October 7/8.
Padlocks were cut off the entrance to the site and outbuildings and police say it is believed a number of people saw a Renault Traffic van on the estate and at the scene.
The van, thought to be a 55 or 56 plate, arrived at about 4.35pm and left again at 5pm. There were three men in it.
The driver is described as in his 40s, weather-beaten and slightly bald.
Police are asking for witnesses to come forward as it seems a number of people walked past the van and men during this time.
A similar offence took place on the same industrial estate some weeks ago.
Police say it appears thieves are periodically targeting trading estates in Tavistock.
Anyone who owns plant equipment or industrial tools and equipment, should bear this in mind and consider whether their current security is adequate.
Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number JT/12/1266.
