A COUPLE of madcap fundraisers are appealing to businesses and individuals in the Okehampton area for help with transport when they attempt the 20th annual Dartmoor Jailbreak this spring.

Angela Scott, 32, and Suzie Edwards, also 32, are taking part in the event for the first time this April and have already raised £950 in sponsorship.

Breaking out from Dartmoor Prison on April 26, they have been promised free return tickets to Roscoff from Plymouth ? but are looking for some transport to get them to the ferry port from the prison.

The aim of the jailbreak, apart from raising money for charity, is to get as far away from HMP Dartmoor as possible within a certain time.

Angela said: ?We?re not allowed to use our own transport; we have to rely totally on others, and we?re not allowed to pay for it.

?We?re looking for anything daft ? we have had an offer of sitting on the front of a dumper truck but we didn?t think we?d get away with it for safety reasons. Some people have even left the prison in hearses!?

The pair, who come from near Morchard Bishop and are appropriately calling themselves Team Doolally, will attempt their jailbreak dressed in wetsuits donated by Circle One.

?They?re not as warm as you think ? and they?re definitely not very flattering either,? said Angela, who said any ?weird or wonderful? offer of transport would be considered by herself and Suzie.

All the funds raised by the jailbreak will go to Vranch House School in Exeter, which supports children with cerebral palsy.

Anyone who can help Team Doolally with their transport problem, which needs to be available at 10.30am in Princetown on April 26, should call Angela on 01363 877621.
