OKEHAMPTON electors will get the chance to quiz the parliamentary candidates standing in Torridge and West Devon at a hustings debate next Wednesday (April 27). The meeting has been organised by Christians together in Okehampton (CtiO), which consists of the member churches of the town, and will be chaired by CtiO chairman, the Rev Mike Davies. Geoffrey Cox (Conservative), Rebecca Richards (Labour), Peter Christie (Green Party) and David Walter (Liberal Democrat) have all accepted the invitation to come and take part in the debate. UKIP?s Matthew Jackson is unable to attend but will be sending a party representative in his place. The meeting will be held at Fairplace Church in Okehampton from 7.30pm. To help structure the meeting, Mr Davies is asking people with a particular question they want to put to the candidates to submit them in advance. Questions can be submitted by telephone on 01837 659233 or e-mail to: [email protected]">[email protected] Alternatively, anyone is welcome to come along and ask their own question ? be it a local or a national issue ? on the night or simply listen to the debate. Questions will be asked to each of the representatives in turn. At the end of the meeting each candidate will also provide a brief summary of themselves and their election campaign.
