A WEST Devon group dedicated to organising fun events for its members recently announced the winners of its annual awards at a VIP ball held in Plymouth.

The Devon Social Group gave out awards to a wide variety of pubs, restaurants and activities in the borough.

Cellars in Okehampton was named best bistro in Devon; Christopher's in Tavistock best restaurant in Devon; the Peter Tavy Inn, best country pub in Devon; Steps in Tavistock, best traditional restaurant in Devon; The Plume of Feathers, Princetown, best moorland pub; Brimpt's Farm at Dartmeet, best cream tea in the county; The Who'd Have Thought It got top prize for hospitality in the county; The Bird's Nest in Tavistock won best Chinese Restaurant; Monterey Jack's was best value restaurant; The Rock Inn at Yelverton served the best Sunday lunch and the Lydford House Hotel was most welcoming country hotel.

Best swimming pool in Devon was Meadowlands in Tavistock.
