LIVESTOCK will make a welcome return to this year?s Okehampton Agricultural Show, which takes place at the Stoney Park showfield in August.

However, current safety rules and regulations have meant a change in car parking arrangements for this, the 98th show.

In the past, more than 200 Vice President cars have parked on the showground, but this year, the name Vice President has been changed to Member and a new members? enclosure set out next to the main ring.

There will be two types of members tickets available on a first come, first served basis.

Fifty cars will be permitted to park around the main ring at a cost of £35. This will give entrance to the members? enclosure for one member and three guests.

Any additional passengers in the car will be charged normal entry fee on the gate: £6 adults, £3 children under 14, and concessions. Additional passengers in the car will not be allowed entry into the members? enclosure.

A further 100 members? tickets will be available at a price of £15 for a member and one guest.

Ticketholders will park in a special area in the main car park above the showfield and will have full access to the members enclosure. Again, any additional passengers in these cars will pay normal entry fees at the gate.

For further information or to book members? tickets contact the show secretary on 01837 61322.

The new members? enclosure will include a marquee providing tea and coffee, together with a bar, a covered grandstand and tables and chairs.

There will also be 20 disabled parking bays available alongside the main ring. It would be advisable to book one of these spaces from the secretary prior to the show in order to guarantee a space. Normal entry charges will apply.

As well as horse and livestock classes, a new feature this year will be the Companion ?formerly exemption ? dog show, which will be held in the car park outside the main showfield area.

Ferret racing will also make a return to the show.

The President of this year?s show, which takes place at the Stoney Park showfield, on Thursday, August 14, will be television personality Noel Edmonds.
