HOLIDAY-makers staying at the Tavistock Trout Fishery last week netted a rather bigger catch than they could ever have hoped for . . .
The guests, from Liverpool, were cooking up a feast of fish and chips after a successful day's angling, but one of them fancied something a little different and took a trip to the town's Somerfield store.
There she picked up a lucky dip ticket for last Wednesday's lottery —and it was a winner, reeling in almost a third of a million pounds, some £310,555.
Abigail Underhill, owner of the fishery, said: 'I couldn't believe it. I asked if I might hold the ticket while we double-checked the numbers on the teletext. It was amazing to hold that amount of money in your hand.'
Manager of Somerfields, Alan Feakins, said that as far as he knew it was the largest lottery win from a ticket bought there. 'I am over the moon for them,' he said.
