IN this game the defences proved that to have a winning team you must ensure you do not give goals away easily.
For Callington, Tom Reid and Olly Craddick were outstanding, restricting Lamerton?s hungry forwards to scraps. Also having his best game for the town was Murry, playing out of position, his physical presence and attitude was just what town required on the day.
Rooke and Hartly missed the only real chances for town but it would be unfair to find fault .
James Hall did not figure in much of Callington?s forward play but did a solid job in keeping Lamerton?s playmaker quiet. Chris Canham was back for his first real game of the season.
The second period saw Lamerton come more into the game but again the defences were on top.
For Lamerton, Tim Lyle and Andy Coe were rock solid at the heart of the defence and Paul Breyley and Kev Swift battled hard in midfield. With many Lamerton players sidelined it was an encouraging display from the home side.
This Saturday Lamerton are away to Veryan in the league, 2.30pm kick-off.
