A MUCH-loved teacher from St Andrew's Primary School in Buckland Monachorum retired at the end of term, after 18 years in her post. On a day when Ros Knight and the children in class 2 were dressed as Ancient Egyptians, she received a book with heartfelt messages, a picture of the community orchard which is a project Mrs Knight and Celia Stevens have been involved with for 15 years, and many fun gifts. As an extra special surprise Mrs Knight was blindfolded and led to the former Egyptian Garden, which had been re-vamped and has now been named the 'Knight Garden'. She said: 'I have had a wonderful time at St Andrew's. I have worked with fantastic staff and have had a chance to explore internationally — one highlight was taking children to Germany for one of our projects. 'I will absolutely miss the children and I will keep my eye out to see how they are doing. I will miss my colleagues who are not just my colleagues; they are my friends. 'It has been nice to be a part of the school — I have had a wonderful career and I have met some really great people.'
