PLYMOUTH and West Devon Cassettes, a Tavistock based charity better known locally as 'Talking Newspapers for the Blind', held a flag-day street collection in Tavistock on April 23 and 24.

Despite the gloomy economic climate this year, the weather was fine and Tavistock people and visitors were as generous as ever.

A total of £1,605 was collected, which, added to donations of over £525 from our many listeners, makes a splendid, record total of £2,130.

Through the Times, we would once again like to thank the town people of Tavistock and everyone involved in the collection, for their most generous support.
