I AM writing to express our thanks for the advance publicity which your newspaper gave to our 'Charity Day' in aid of Help for Heroes.
The event proved a huge success and whereas we had originally hoped to raise £500, it now looks as if the final figure will be approaching £2,000.
We had so many donated prizes that even though we held a table-top-sale, a tombola, a raffle and an auction we were unable to use all of the items. In the circumstances we will be holding a final raffle of about 40 items, included donated meals etc, today (Thursday) when the club will be hosting an 'Entertainment Showcase'. Guests will be welcomed on the evening provided they are signed in as visitors.
Lastly through the auspices of your columns could we please thank everyone who helped with the event or donated the numerous prizes?
