TWO West Devon students have been selected to represent the colleges of the area as young ambassadors for sport. Tavistock College students Nathan Walker, 16, and Abi Maunder, 17, will represent West Devon and Plymouth over the next year. In the run up to the 2012 Olympics in London the pair will be promoting the three Olympic ideals: friendship, respect and excellence. They will also promote sport and try to get people involved in any type of activities. The definition of their role is: ?A role model who helps and encourages younger children to take part in sporting activities, also to show them what they can achieve and help them achieve their dreams.? Nathan and Abi were chosen as ambassadors due to their sporting abilities and their volunteer services within sport. Nathan is involved with Tavistock Athletic FC U18s and Tavistock Cricket Club, while Abi is involved with BATs Badminton Club and her college netball team. The pair are currently organising an inter school rowing competition. l Pictured: PE teacher Leigh Underhay, with ambassadors for sport in West Devon and Plymouth, Nathan Walker and Abi Maunder.
