I AM a regular user of the coach parking facility in Mill Road. I would agree that the access is a little difficult but I have been able to sucessfully park coaches of more than 12 metres (40 ft) in the allocated space. I have met and talked to one of the objectors, whose stated opposition was that he found the noise of a diesel engine disturbing. I did point out that with any vehicle reliant on air brakes there was a minute or so of engine running at idle for the air tanks to be charged and that no driver likes to sit in a stationary vehicle when they could be on the road. Buses and coaches are a bit like taxes. No-one wants the inconvenience but everyone wants the benefits. I wonder how many of these NIMBYs are as considerate of home owners when they park their cars on public roads outside a person's home thus depriving them of a parking spot. Castle Road is a prime example where people come from miles around to find a free parking space rather than use the municipal car park. Should an alternative site be required may I suggest the space outside Kent House and a space ouside Waitrose. Both would give toilet acess to passengers and would be little or no inconvienience to the public S W Moore Okehampton
