TAVISTOCK's Allen Lewis is one of two referees to be chosen for the National Cerebral Palsy seven-a-side leagues.

He was selected after attending Grace Accademy College at Coventry for a FA Seminar and out of the 150 applicants who applied for the honour of referring these leagues, 25 were chosen.

Two men from the Devon FA, James Taylor from Plymouth and the Tavistock Specials secretary and Respect campaigner Allen Lewis.

Amoungst other applicants was professional referee Kevin Wright from the Championship League and experienced refs from all over the UK.

10 of the referees from the 25 seated in the hall that day , will be chosen for the 2012 Paralympics.

Both James and Allen were given the opportunity to officiate a quarter of a Cerebral Palsy match between two league sides East v West Midlands.

Allen said: 'The standard of football was excellent and to meet all the other refs was a great experience. I can't wait to get started on the league matches at the end of November and have a crack at the chance to referee in the 2012 Paralympics!'
