Bude Seconds 2
Okehampton Columbines Seconds 2
OKEHAMPTON ladies' hockey team travelled to sunny Bude for a Sunday friendly although it was a hard fought game.
Sharon Parsons, playing at left back instead of her usual position in goal, was quick to close down any Bude attack and Okehampton started off as the most threatening side.
Jill Cooper made a welcome return to the Columbines as centre forward and it was a good continuation move from the forwards that led to Jo Moppett scoring their first goal.
Columbines were putting more pressure on Bude's goal but it was not until the second half that Jane Jones, playing out of position on the right wing, was able to slot a second home.
Okehampton were beginning to struggle with their fitness and M Parsons in goal had to make some fine saves before a muddle in defence allowed Bude to score.
With the possibility of getting something out of the match Bude stepped up their game and Debbie Ough and Sharon Parsons had to work hard at the back.
Bude deserved an equaliser which they scored in the last few minutes.
