A FUNDRAISING and awareness event in support of Children's Hospice South West is being held at Morwellham Quay next month.

A Taste of the Tamar Food and Craft Festival has been organised in partnership with Castle Kitchens and celebrity master chef Peter Gorton.

The event, on May 16 and May 17, has being organised by Castle Kitchens and the Morwellham Quay and Tamar Valley Trust who were keen to be involved for the charity.

Masterchef Peter Gorton of the award winning Horn of Plenty Hotel in Gulworthy is organising a team of chefs to provide cooking demonstrations of the highest calibre at this event. All ages will have something of interest to catch their eye and taste-buds.

Children will be in focus with Punch and Judy shows on Sunday and children's nature trails, face painting and much more.

Live entertainment, a barbecue, food and craft stalls, family-friendly facilities, tasting sessions, refreshments will be available from the Ship Inn with a special menu for the evening.

Peter Gorton will be organising the school's 'Taste of the Tamar' challenge which will take place on the Saturday, where local schools will compete in the art of cooking and win a prize.

'Children's Sunday' in the cookery theatre will put the emphasis on fun, using herbs and various ingredients and most importantly — healthy eating — under the instructions of Peter.

Local small speciality food companies will be at Morwellham showing their wares. All ages can be involved in cooking and the food festival is all about people enjoying the art of cookery.

A goody bag will be available for the children to take away. Admission to the event is free. Car parking is available at a small charge.
