WHITCHURCH and Sampford Spiney Dog Show will be held at Casey Town Cottage on Saturday, August 25. The show had to find an alternative venue due to the cancellation of the annual sheepdog trials, and the venue at Casey Town Cross, Whitchurch, is by kind permission of Mr and Mrs A J Dickinson. The show starts at 1.30pm with gates open at 12.30pm. There will be 12 classes from best cross breed to best child handler and the six hairiest legs. The judge will be Chris Warren, of Westmoor Veterinary Centre. New events this year will be a parade of the Spooners and West Dartmoor Fox Hounds at 3.30pm and terrier/dog racing at 4pm, where both dog and owner will enjoy the chase. Charity stalls, bookstall, cake stall, games, raffle and refreshments will add to the event, for which entry is free. Free parking will be provided on the field. Proceeds are for Whitchurch and Sampford Spiney churches.
