CANCER Research UK will be holding its big fundraising sale on March 17 in Tavistock Town Hall.

Open from 10am to 4pm with free admission there will be plenty of choice from books to cakes, a tombola and raffle. Traders will be selling vintage textiles, jewellery and painted furniture buttons and there will be craft demonstrations such as rag rugging. Refreshments will be available throughout the day.

Last year the Tavistock Friends of Cancer Research UK contributed £17,000 to the £11-million which was raised nationally. Local benefits include the 49 clinical trials which are currently ongoing at Derriford Hospital.

If anyone is spring cleaning and has items of bric-a-brac, books or unwanted Christmas gifts they would like to donate to the sale they can bring them along to the town hall at 9am on the morning of March 17 or ring Val McCarthy on 01822 860484 to arrange collection.
