Pinhoe 2

South Zeal Utd 2

A DRAW was a fair result as Zeal had the better of the first half and Pinhoe dominated the second as both sides scored one well worked goal and one soft penalty apiece.

Pinhoe started the better of the two and only good defending by Zeal, where Lee Gilbert and Sean Sendacott in the goal were outstanding, kept the scores equal in the opening 15 minutes.

Then during a good spell of attacking play by Zeal a Pinhoe forward broke clear and set up a simple tap in from inside the six-yard box.

Undeterred, Zeal started to play great football through the midfield and equalised when Scott Hooper was brought down in the penalty area and Harley Cann stepped up to make the score 1-1.

Zeal deservedly took the lead on the half hour when Redd Cann and Darren Gilbert worked a great opening which resulted in Redd hitting an unstoppable shot past the Pinhoe keeper.

Zeal needed all their resolve in the second half to keep their lead and after defending well for most of the half conceded the equaliser five minutes from time when Tim Sanderson was adjudged to have brought down a Pinhoe striker in the penalty area. Sean Sendacott almost saved the penalty but the ball went in off his outstretched leg.

Zeal could have got all three points in the remaining minutes but Harley Cann's shot from close range was cleared off the line after some good work by Scott Hooper and Nick Pollard had set the chance up.

This week Uplowman away, kick-off 2.15pm.
