Credit Unions, which are money co-operatives owned and run by members, are among the fastest growing of all financial organisations in the world. They provide an easy way to save and loans are available at favourable rates to members who save regularly.
The Plough and Share Union in Devon, which already has 300 members, is run in accordance with the regulations of the Financial Services Authority and has to abide by the same rules as all High Street banks and building societies.
Savings are fully protected and insured and after meeting running costs, any profit is returned to the members in the form of an annual dividend.
