THE Rotary Club of Hatherleigh celebrated the presidential handover from Richard Tidball to incoming president Alan Barkwill (right) with a barbecue held at Alan?s home near Pancrasweek.
Since its inception almost ten years ago, the club has established a tradition of holding its presidential handover on a riverboat.
New president Alan is a confirmed landlubber and opted instead for the safety of a barbecue and marquee. However, other club members were determined to maintain the waterborne tradition and so the two Rotarians were set afloat in Alan?s swimming pool in a fine vessel specially chartered for the occasion!
The handover was carried out successfully and honour was satisfied on all sides.
The new president elect is Andy Tucker.
During the celebrations the Rotary Club of Hatherleigh presented its annual ?Good Citizen?s Award? to Mrs Judith O?Connor of Bradford, for outstanding service in her community.
