OKEHAMPTON and District Local History Society will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, October 10.
The group's series of talks continues with a talk on the quarry at Peters Marland by George Copp.
George is a former works manager at the quarry. Ball clay has been extracted from the site for 300 years, and is found in England only in Devon and Dorset.
Meetings of the society are held on the second Wednesday of the month, at 7.30pm in the Ockment Centre. New members are always welcome— for information call Jane Lehni on 01837 840087. Non-members may attend for £2 per person.
