CHARTER trains are to run the full length of the Dartmoor Railway between Meldon Viaduct and Coleford Junction this bank holiday weekend.
Trains will depart Okehampton at 10.20am, 1.10pm and 2.10pm on Saturday, August 24 and Monday, August 26, to go to Meldon, then back to Okehampton and on to Sampford Courtenay and Coleford Junction. The 1.10pm train will stop upon arrival back at Okehampton from Meldon.
The train complements a charter train running between Okehampton and Meldon on Sunday, August 25. Trains on August 25 depart Okehampton at 12.15pm, 2.15pm and 4.15pm, returning from Meldon at 1.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm. The timetable allows plenty of time to view the viaduct.
First Great Western operates the Sunday rover service between Exeter and Okehampton.
The services arriving in Okehampton at 11.49am, 1.53pm and 3.51pm connect with trains to Meldon. Returning trains from Meldon connect with the service departing Okehampton at 2pm, 3.56pm and 5.59pm.
The buffet at Okehampton Station will be open for refreshments, and both the Railway Museum at Okehampton Station and model railway layouts at Meldon will be open.
