TAVISTOCK Cricket Club U17s last week entertained Albany Creek U17s from Australia.
Albany batted first, scoring 204, with B McKic scoring 64, M Lloyd 50 and S Jones 36. Ben Neale and David Downham managed two wickets each for Tavistock.
Tavistock's reply was all out for 40 with S B Bolmor taking 3-12 and S Jones 3-17.
The game proved that Albany Creek were far superior, but as Colts' secretary Stuart Munday said, these lads play 365 days of the year, and on leaving school at 3.30 in the afternoon go straight to nets — English lads watch television and play on computers, so we are always going to be a long way behind.
Albany will be back in two years and a thought for the future: might one or two come back and play for Tavistock?
