WEST Devon residents will have a unique opportunity this weekend to express their concerns about the environment and the long-term quality of life in the district.
Award-winning charity WestDEN will be launching a wide-ranging new consultation at Tavistock Farmers? Market on Saturday, giving people the chance to share their views on the future of the area.
The aim of the Action for the Future consultation is to find out people?s hopes and fears about quality of life in West Devon, so that WestDEN can set up projects and work with other organisations to provide solutions.
The charity?s consultation co-ordinator, Jeanette Emmett, said Action for the Future was unique, because people could highlight any issues they felt were important.
?We hope to discover what really matters to people in West Devon so that we can do something to tackle these issues and improve life for future generations in the district.
?This consultation is unique in that the issues can be very broad and wide-ranging, from pollution and waste to housing and transport ? whatever issues people feel to be of local and even global significance.?
The WestDEN consultation team will be visiting many organisations such as youth groups, parish councils and clubs over the next three months, asking people to fill in a questionnaire.
The results of the survey will be used to create an action plan and, where possible, projects will be developed to address the issues raised.
Since 1993, WestDEN has responded to local needs through a variety of projects, including helping set up the farmers? market, providing rural skills training, healthy eating projects and transport for young people in isolated areas.
