CADETS from 2312 Tavistock Squadron took part in this year's Plymouth and Cornwall Wings Athletic event at Par Stadium Cornwall. The cadets competed in both field and track events against Air Cadet units from Penzance through to Dartmouth. Awards went to: Sarah Lucas, gold medals in the shot put and javelin disciplines; Tom Waddington, gold medal in the 400m track event; Tom Ludwig, gold medal in 200m track event; John Tailyour, bronze medal in 1500m track event; Dan Reid, bronze medal in 100m track event. The 4x100 relay track final event saw bronze medals for Mathew Crick, John Tailyour,Tom Ludwig and Tom Waddington. All other participants earned good respective positions, giving the squadron a good overall result against tough competition. Civilian instructor Shaun Reid and team coach said: 'The event was a first for the squadron to attend in recent years and I was very proud of the team's efforts. The event fitted well with the squadron's push in sporting activities this year.' The Air Cadets are looking for new 13 to 18 years of age boys and girls.
