THIS Christmas Tesco will be running its third Neighbourhood Food Collection in a bid to collect 10-million meals for those in need by the end of the year.

Customers at Tesco in Callington will be invited to donate food in store from tomorrow (Friday, November 29) until Saturday, November 30, as the retailer gears up to hold the biggest ever food collection in the UK.

South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray and Foodbank charity the Trussell Trust will be joining Tesco at Callington for the collection.

Customers at the store will be given a special selected shopping list when they enter and will be asked to pick up an item of food such as long-life milk, cereal, tinned foods and tea and coffee before donating it at the end of their shop.

The food will then be distributed to the Callington Foodbank before being given to people in times of crisis.

Martin Hawkins, store manager at Callington Tesco, said: 'Our customers were incredibly generous when we held our last food collection in the summer, so we're hoping to collect an even bigger total this time around.

'In the run-up to Christmas we want to do our bit to feed those in need, and volunteers from Callington Foodbank are really looking forward to taking part in the collection.'

Tesco will be topping up total donations by a further 30%.
