CHILDREN at Okehampton Primary School had a fun afternoon learning about recycling last Friday.

Pupils from Years two and three had a visit from recycling expert Becky Evans to teach them about the importance of recycling. Becky works for Resources Futures, a company who work in sustainability and resource management. Resources Futures are working with Devon County Council to help deliver the Waste Education Programme in schools throughout the county.

The school recently earned a prestigious Eco School Green Flag for their work in teaching children about environmental issues, and continued this trend with an afternoon of fun activities based on recycling. They included making a fridge magnet, and acting out the recycling of a steel can.

Harry Camies, a Year two pupil at the school, said: 'It was fun. We learned about putting rubbish into the right bins, and how a lot of rubbish is put into holes in the ground.'
