FREE support sessions are being offered to parents in West Devon for advice on how to survive the teenage years.

The Peninsula Coaching Foundation (PCF), a local organisation which supports the personal development of young people through coaching, will be running two informal, support evenings for parents of teenagers, entitled 'Surviving the Teenage Years', to explore the issues both parents and young people face.

The evenings will be led by professional life coaches.

Dee Brodie, one of the life coaches leading the event, said: 'In today's modern, fast changing world, many parents feel isolated and don't know what to do for the best.

'These free sessions will be an opportunity to learn, share experiences and ideas as well as some hints and tips about communication skills and how they can affect the quality of relationships we have with our children. We offer parents powerful and effective tools.'

Surviving the Teenage Years is being delivered as part of the Swing Door project, which has been funded by the Learning Revolution Transformation Fund and is designed to encourage participation in informal learning with the aim of helping local communities become more confident, self-reliant and mutually supportive.

The meetings will be held on Tuesday March 9, at the Ockment Centre in Okehampton and Thursday March 18, at the sports centre at Tavistock College. Both sessions will run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Places for the evenings are free but limited, so reservations should be made. To reserve a place contact Jacqui Cornish on 07752 991001.
