MID Devon tetrathletes had a successful trip to Sparkford at the weekend for the Cotley Pony Club's annual triathlon. With almost 200 competitors taking part, hopes of success weren't high, but Adam Stanton (pictured above) competing for the first time in 18 months was in fine form and became the first Mid Devon club boy to win a competition for many a year. Adam did brilliantly in the mini boys, winning the class with the best swim and second best run. His team finished in second place. In the junior boys, Richard Malseed finished in fourth place, with the third best swim and run. Senior girls Katy and Rosa Malseed also had some great results with Rosa finishing sixth in the highly competitive group and Katy producing a personal best swim At the Eggesford PC's triathlon which was held in Okehampton stars of the day were newcomers George Jeffery and Henry Ridgers. Competing in the nine years and under, they made up a team with Alex Pillage and George Scott from the Spooners PC and did brilliantly to win the class. In the mini girls, Charly Mould did well to shoot a personal best score of 940 which was the second best in her age group. She also finished tenth in the class. Kim Stanton was competing at Junior level for the first time and produced a great swim while in the junior boys Richard Malseed had a PB shoot and his brother John was the third fastest runner. Finally in the Intermediates, Katy Malseed ran her fastest time ever and then went on to record another PB in the swimming pool.
