Buckley cup
Belstone v Sticklepath
LAST week's hot weather brought a run-feast and broken records to Rew Meadow in two dramatic Twenty20 games.
On Wednesday, with Sticklepath as the Buckley Cup visitors, Belstone started proceedings with a bang as Adam Griffiths smashed five boundaries and a six in 28 off nine balls in the first seven minutes before retiring.
Scott Tremain (18), Wayne Pearce (14), Neil Griffiths (28 retired) and Peter Harlow (11) all scored at a run a minute to keep the momentum going before a final burst of seven boundaries in 16 balls from Harry Bushin (28 retired in 11 minutes) and Colin Tucker (12 not out in 4 minutes) took Belstone to their second highest ever 20-over score of 166 for four.
In reply Sticklepath matched these fireworks with openers Richard Border and Julian Baker both retiring on 26; however, Adam Griffiths struck in his second over, swinging the game with a three-wicket maiden which took the visitors from 59 for one to 59 for four.
Ben Davey (12) and Marshall (14) scored quickly in the lower order before the two openers went back in but by then the asking rate was too much and Belstone ran out 53 run victors.
