Activate 3

Tavistock Girls 0

TAVISTOCK Girls' unbeaten record came crashing down to last year's league champions.

Play was fast and furious with chances from both sides.

Robynne Honey pulled off some terrific first half saves. Kim Davey was superb but heavily marked and Clarice Payne and Heidi Davies played strong supporting roles. Joy Page, Sarah Barrett and Tamsin Bryant worked tirelessly.

The second half saw Tavistock the weaker side and Chloe Bassett struggling to get the girls playing as a team.

The first goal was a screamer that left Honey no chance.

Tavistock fought to get back into the match with Davey constantly battling against the strong Activate defence.

Activate scored another screamer a few minutes before full time and scored again two minutes later.

Player of the match: Joy Page.

Tamarside 8

TAVISTOCK celebrated playing their first match at home and welcomed back manager Aileen Ismail from illness.

In the ninth minute Tamarside opened up the scoring, despite good defensive work from Cole, Krotke and Galway. A further two goals were conceded but Tavistock battled on - chances were made but shots went too high or wide. The midfield of O'Leary and Corrales helped the ball upfield but Tamarside were 4-0 up at half-time.

The second half saw Ruth Cole play outstandingly and Tavistock found the feet of Parsons and Macauley but finishing let them down. Moloney saved a few goals but could not stop the onslaught. Corrales made a good run up the wing but found herself with no support. A brave effort from O'Leary resulted in a twisted ankle and Tamarside took the points.

Player of the match: Aisha Macauley.
