MOVES to try and slow down traffic in Okehampton?s Brightley Road area are being considered by Devon County Council?s local service office and the police, councillors heard last week.
Residents in the area have sent a petition to the county demanding action ? councillors at last week?s meeting of West Devon?s highways and traffic orders committee were told that officers were taking the matter forward.
Cllr Christine Marsh, mayor of Okehampton, said: ?It?s a question of a build-up of a lot more traffic down there ? walking to school is also a problem.?
Local service officer Brian George said: ?We have arranged to do speed measurements and we are currently in the process of considering the output from that. The next step is to consult with the police and meet with parish representatives and local groups to share our conclusions.?
