FOR the second year running, Kelly House, near Lifton, will open its doors to the wool-loving public this weekend to showcase local products and support Children's Hospice South West.

Bringing together stalls and exhibits of the best woollen products from all over the West Country, this year's Woolly Weekend is all set to be bigger and better than the previous inaugural event.

The house will host producers of the finest local wool products, including knitwear, felt, yarns and knitting accessories for the enthusiasts, spinners and a knitting corner for those wanting to contribute a few minutes of their time to the next charity project.

Once again, local wool artist Alison Murray will be displaying a part of her magnificent works, which include a lifesize knitted cottage and 20ft Christmas tree.

This year Alison's project is a themed and illustrated book, which includes an enormous knitted dragon, and the finished project will travel around the country. To find out more visit all2knit.co.uk

Hot and cold food will be available all day, with tea, coffee and the best home-made cakes on sale in the 16th century Great Hall tea room.

This is also a great opportunity to see the house after some recent renovations, with entry to the whole event at only £3 per person, including a £1.50 donation to the Children's Hospice Charity.

The Woolly Weekend takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14.
