THE NEW season of Tavistock Recorded Music Society begins on September 1 and new members are welcomed.
Anyone who enjoys classical music or would like to give it a try can go along at 7.30pm to the Portrait Room of the Bedford Hotel. The season runs until the end of May.
Members get together on alternate Tuesday evenings to listen to varied programmes of good recordings of CDs and DVDs. Outside speakers and enthusiastic members alternate as presenters of a wide range of music, including jazz, folk and big band.
In the coming season there will be medleys but evenings will also be devoted to the music of Henry VIII, Bernard Shaw's musical criticism and the life and music of Ralph Vaughan Williams. The coffee interval gives times for socialising and there are also opportunities to buy discounted CDs.
