THERE will be a chance to make up for Easter egg excesses this weekend with a series of guided walks, talks and events to let people enjoy the special qualities of Dartmoor.
As part of a series of Easter events organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority, a town trail at Princetown and walks at other Dartmoor locations are taking place.
This Saturday, April 6, the history of Princetown will be recalled with a one-and-a-half-hour stroll entitled 'Two Centuries of Princetown', setting off at 2.30pm, from grid reference SX 589 735. For those feeling more adventurous, there is a six-hour High Moor walk setting off from Belstone at 10am on Saturday, grid ref SX 621 938.
'A Secrets of Dartmoor' walk is also planned for Saturday, April 6. This will be a two-hour walk from Bedford Bridge, grid ref SX 503 702, beginning at 10.30am.
On Sunday, April 7, a three-hour walk surveying the archaeology of the open moor takes place. This will begin from Cadover Bridge, grid ref SX 555 647 at 10.30am.
The authority asks walkers to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the start time of each trek. All the walks are led by qualified guides.
