BROADCASTER and wildlife expert Nick Baker was at Castle Drogo to launch the start of Active Dartmoor Week last weekend.

The week of activities centre on the moor has been organised by the Dartmoor Partnership.

Saturday's launch at Castle Drogo included den building, guided walks, fly fish casting lessons and roof top tours of the castle.

This week there has been a charity horse ride and daredevil adventures at River Dart Country Park, including zip wires, water zorbing, and forest school skills.

The activities come to Okehampton this Saturday, with a 'Big Oke Abseil' off Meldon Viaduct, organised by Adventure Okehampton.

The same day, the 'firkin challenge' takes place, where teams of two carry and empty Dartmoor Brewery 9 gallon firkin from the Royal Oak at Meavy on a four mile course, taking in Burrator Reservoir and Sheepstor.
