A CELEBRATION event marking the success of Dartmoor National Park Authority?s pilot project ?Wealth of Wildlife? was held recently at Postbridge.

The scheme is to raise awareness and encourage the enjoyment of wildlife by visitors to Dartmoor.

Over the past six months 25 businesses, representing the range of accommodation provided on Dartmoor, had their grounds surveyed by a project officer to detail the wildlife found.

A specific site report and additional information on habitats and species found throughout the Dartmoor area was included in the tailor-made wildlife folders which were presented during the event at Lydgate House.

DNPA?s head of recreation and tourism Alison Kohler said: ?Due to the success of the pilot, we are hoping to continue to expand the project to include wildlife information provision for non-accommodation providers, the creation of wildlife trails within the grounds of certain establishments and the running of themed wildlife weekend events in the autumn.?
