A GARDEN party to celebrate Harewood House Residential and Day Centre is being held on Friday, August 22. The celebration of Harewood is for all the service users past and present and their families to attend and enjoy a 'sumptuous tea', at the centre. Last month it was announced that Harewood House was expected to close as part of Devon County Council's bid to save £110-million. The closure is due for Spring next year. A spokesperson said: 'We need to celebrate what Harewood House has been to the community. We don't want to go in a sad way, we need to be happy! We want everybody to join with us to celebrate the life of Harewood House, which was opened in 1961.' During the day, from 1.30pm to 5pm, Cogs and Wheels Morris dancers, the Gentlemen Singers, and jugglers, to name a few, will be entertaining all who attend.
